...Eh-hem! ...in that cast! Here's an updated fishing report hot off the press by Tom Reynolds of STR Outfitters. Norfork Lake is at normal pool. The water temperature is in the high-fifties and rising. The water visibility is stained. The cold weather this week has slowed the bite but with the full moon and warming trend the stripers & bait will move back into the creeks. The stripers have moved in the creek following the shad. Shad are in the creeks and getting ready to spawn on this week’s full moon, both gizzard & threadfin shad can be caught in the creeks now. The lake hit the 60 degree range in the creeks but has dropped back due to the rain and cold weather. I fished Bennett’s Bayou and Big Creek and caught stripers from 6 am to 1 pm, the best bite was mid-day with clouds or overcast skies. Sunny days the bite is off with very little activity. I fished with Don, Chuck, & Larry and we caught stripers all morning, Larry caught the big striper, it was 17 lbs. The stripers were caught on 5 to 7 inch gizzard shad. The crappies are biting on minnow’s small spoons & jigs and minnows on brush piles in 2 to 8 feet of water in the mornings. The crappy are spawning but will be slow down with the cold weather; limits are being caught in all the major creek arms. Come rent a cabin at Mockingbird Bay Resort, and then ...

A couple of fishing buddies from Missouri were having some good luck catching small mouth bass and stripers this weekend! Luckily, they entered the Fishing Derby -- so their catch may earn them $500 (per species). Good Luck to them! :)
